In 1982 Saturn was born! Again General Motors was the brains behind this venture. Not that they did not already have enough on their plate when they decided to add more to it. Since GM has the ability to make quality cars it was only natural to produce next an economical car with style. With all of the overseas car manufacturers stepping in the way with affordable fuel-efficient vehicles, GM started to lose the battle. By 1984 Saturn released it first prototype that showed style with economic benefits. With GM backing this whole project Saturn was able to hit the ground running and was able to compete with all of the economy style vehicles on the road. Over the years Saturn has won several awards such as Best Overall Value of the Year. To stay in the competitive market GM moved the Saturn Manufacturing plate to Japan so they were able to stay in a lower price range so that Americans could still afford a cheap, well-made automobile.
